Blockstream employees will never DM you first on Telegram, Discord, or any messaging app, so treat anyone who does as an impersonator. For account-specific issues involving personal information, submit a Help Center ticket rather than reaching out over social DMs.

Blockstream's "Help Us Improve" analytics is opt-in, and no data is shared with third parties. It links app interactions to an opaque, unguessable identifier, never to your wallet, keys, addresses, balances, or transactions. The data it does collect (language, country, button presses, load times, OS and app version) is AES256-encrypted, deleted after two years, and timed deliberately imprecisely so usage can't be tied to on-chain events. You can disable it anytime through the "Help Us Improve" setting.

The app generates your recovery phrase using the BIP39 standard (12 words by default, or 24, drawn from a fixed 2,048-word list) and derives your wallet's keys with the BIP32 hierarchical deterministic standard. Singlesig wallets can be restored in other BIP39-compatible software such as Electrum, but wallets created with two-factor authentication use a multisig security model and can only be restored in the Blockstream app.
