Connection, Tor, and transaction errors usually trace back to how the app reaches the network. Work through the section that matches your error.
The Blockstream app is self-custodial. Blockstream support cannot access, reset, or recover your recovery phrase, PIN, two-factor authentication, or funds, and cannot sign transactions for you. Keep your recovery phrase private. Anyone who has it can move your bitcoin.
Connection Errors
If the app cannot connect or the balance will not sync:
- Check that your device has a working internet connection. Try loading a web page to confirm.
- Close the app fully and reopen it.
- If you use a VPN or firewall, turn it off briefly to see whether it is blocking the connection.
- If the problem continues on Wi-Fi, switch to mobile data, or the reverse, to rule out one network.
Tor Errors
The app can route traffic over Tor for added privacy. Tor connections can be slow or fail when the network is congested.
- If connections stall while Tor is on, wait a moment and try again. Tor can take longer to establish a route.
- To confirm Tor is the cause, turn it off in the app's network settings and reconnect. If the app works without Tor, the issue is the Tor route, not your wallet.
- For how Tor works in the app and how to turn it on again, see Connect to Tor.
Transaction Errors
If a transaction will not send or is stuck:
- Confirm the app is connected first. Most send errors are connection errors underneath. Work through the Connection Errors steps above.
- Confirm you have enough balance to cover both the amount and the network fee. If you see an insufficient funds error, see Fix insufficient funds error.
- If a sent transaction shows as pending, it is waiting to confirm on the network. This is normal and can take time depending on the fee and network conditions.
- If sending still fails, close and reopen the app, then create the transaction again.
Still Need Help?
The fastest way to reach support is from inside the app, because the report includes your logs. Open the app, go to the Settings tab, tap Support, enter your email and a short description of the issue, keep Share Logs checked, and tap Submit. See Submit log data for troubleshooting.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, you can also submit a request on the Help Center. Include the Blockstream app version, your device model and operating system version, the network involved (Bitcoin, Liquid, or Lightning), whether you use Tor, a VPN, or a custom server, and the exact wording of any error message (a screenshot helps).
Do not include your recovery phrase, PIN, or any 2FA codes. Support will never ask for them.
