The Remember Hardware Devices setting controls whether the Blockstream app keeps a saved entry for a hardware wallet (such as Blockstream Jade) after you connect it. The setting is on by default and applies to every wallet in the app.
What the Setting Does
When Remember Hardware Devices is on, the app saves a wallet entry the first time you connect a hardware wallet. That wallet then appears in your wallet list, so on later visits you tap it, connect the device, and log in. The app also records a successful Jade genuine check, so it does not repeat the check each time.
When the setting is off, each hardware wallet session is temporary. The app does not save a wallet entry, nothing about the device is kept on your phone or computer, and the wallet disappears from the app when you log out or disconnect. The next time you want to use the device, you connect it again from the start, and the app runs the Jade genuine check again.
When to Turn It Off
Leave the setting on for a device you own and use regularly. Turn it off when you do not want any record of a hardware wallet left in the app, for example on a shared or borrowed phone, or when you are helping someone else with their device.
Note: The setting only controls what the app stores about the device. Your keys never leave the hardware wallet either way, and turning the setting off does not remove wallets you already saved. To remove a saved wallet, see Remove wallet.
