Jade is a hardware wallet that stores the recovery phrase for your Bitcoin and/or Liquid wallets. Hardware wallets increase the security of your funds by keeping the private keys required to spend your bitcoin or Liquid assets on a secure, offline device.
Storing your recovery phrase on a phone or computer opens up potential attack vectors. For this reason, we recommend using a hardware wallet like Jade for additional protection.
The table below compares the use of the Blockstream app as a standalone software wallet versus pairing it with a Jade hardware wallet.

Using Jade with the Blockstream App
Jade stores your private keys, but still requires a compatible interface to manage funds. We recommend Jade's native companion, the Blockstream app, though Jade also supports platforms like Electrum.
Note: In the Blockstream app, you can choose between two security models when using Jade: Standard (Singlesig) or 2FA Protected (Multisig Shield). Learn more.
After setting up your Jade with the Blockstream app, you can begin receiving, sending, and securely storing your Bitcoin and Liquid assets.
Blockstream Jade is compatible with the Blockstream app on Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android.
