Virtually all hardware wallets on the market use the same standard for crafting a user's backup, allowing you to restore a 12 or 24 word recovery phrase (or seed phrase) generated by another device directly to Jade. After completing this process, you can immediately begin using Jade to securely store, receive, and send bitcoin that was previously protected by a different hardware wallet - all without needing to move or transfer funds.
Restore Backup to Jade
The information needed to restore your bitcoin private keys and addresses is derived from your seed phrase. Because of this, you simply need to enter your seed phrase on Jade to begin accessing your funds with your new device.
1.
Once you receive your Jade, follow our setup guide and choose Restore Wallet when prompted to select your Setup Method. Choose whether the seed phrase given by your previous hardware wallet is 12 or 24 words, then use the keyboard on Jade's screen to enter it on your device.
2.
Next, continue along the Jade setup guide until you have paired your device with a companion app, at which point you should see the same balance that was displayed when using your previous hardware wallet.
Tip: Depending on how you used your old hardware device, there may be some additional variables you could have applied which affected how your wallet was generated. If you do not see the same balance as your old device, follow our recommendations here.
