Virtually all hardware wallets on the market use the same standard for creating a backup, allowing you to restore a 12 or 24 word recovery phrase (or seed phrase) generated by another device directly to Jade. Without needing to transfer funds, you can restore your wallet to Jade and immediately use it to securely store, receive, and send bitcoin that was previously protected by a different hardware wallet.
Migrate via Restore Wallet
From your seed phrase, you can derive the information needed to restore your private keys and addresses. Simply enter your seed phrase on your new Jade to access your funds.
1.
Once you receive your Jade, follow our setup guide and choose Restore Wallet when prompted to select your Setup Method. Specify whether your previous hardware wallet's seed phrase is 12 or 24 words, then use the keyboard on Jade's screen to enter it on your device.
Alternatively, you can choose Scan QR and use Jade's built-in camera to read a SeedQR-encoded recovery phrase.
2.
Next, continue along the Jade setup guide until you have paired your device with a companion app, at which point you should see the same balance that was displayed when using your previous hardware wallet.
Tip: Depending on how you used your old hardware device, you may have applied some additional security variables which affected how your wallet was generated. If you do not see the same balance as your old device, follow our recommendations.
