Note: The following feature is not available with Jade Classic.
Each individual Jade manufactured by Blockstream contains a unique private key specific to that device, with its corresponding public key signed by Blockstream. The resulting signature is stored on Jade, and Blockstream will only sign the public key of devices that the company manufactures. This process allows you to complete a challenge with their Jade after receiving it to verify whether or not your unit is genuine or if it was created by a third party.
Conducting a Genuine Check
1.
During Jade setup with the Blockstream app, you will be prompted to initiate the Genuine Check process. Tap Genuine Check to proceed.
Tip: If you are using a different application or your Jade is already initialized, you can perform a Genuine Check using our web app.
2.
Select Yes on Jade to sign the Genuine Check challenge.
3.
If the Jade you received completes the challenge successfully, you may tap Continue with Jade to finish the setup process. If you receive a note that your device is not genuine, please contact support immediately and do not use your Jade.
Note: If you are using DIY hardware, you should not expect your device to pass the Genuine Check. Select Continue as DIY to use your generic hardware with the Blockstream App.
