Jade Status
There are four different states that Jade can operate in at any one time. While viewing the main menu, the lower left portion of your Jade's display will indicate its current status.
Inactive Status
- Uninitialized: Device does not have any encrypted wallet data stored. Most users should follow the setup instructions to create a wallet and pair their Jade.
- Initialized: Wallet data is stored encrypted on device and requires a PIN entry to unlock. Users can unlock their Jade by connecting to a companion app via USB, BLE, or QR.
Tip: The lower-right portion of Jade's display will show your current firmware version when in an inactive status.
Ready Status
- Active: Your wallet data is accessible on Jade and you can use your device to sign transactions and access other relevant features.
- Active (Temporary): Similar to a typical active session, however a clock icon will be displayed to indicate that a temporary session option was chosen (such as SeedQR or Temporary Signer). The currently active wallet will be forgotten on reboot or logout.
Tip: The lower-right portion of Jade's display will show your wallet fingerprint when in a ready status.
Connection Types
Jade offers three different communications methods that can be used to connect to a companion app:
- USB: Plug Jade into your laptop or Android device using the supplied USB-C cable
- Bluetooth: Conveniently pair Jade with your mobile phone, compatible with both iOS and Android
- QR: Use Jade's camera and QR codes to perform fully-airgapped transactions and physically decide when your Jade sends or receives data
Note: For users who prefer not to have Bluetooth communication available, Jade offers a no-radio firmware variant that renders the Bluetooth hardware useless.
