Jade can scan QR codes of bitcoin addresses with its camera to verify whether or not the address belongs to the wallet stored on Jade. This is best practice before sharing a receiving address with a sender.
Jade has the ability to verify addresses for singlesig and multisig wallets (if one is registered). Jade can verify an address on any path when using USB or Bluetooth, however when using the camera Jade will check for addresses on the paths below:
- Singlesig: m/84'/0'/0' and m/49'/0'/0'
- Multisig: m/48'/0'/0'/2' and m/48'/0'/0'/1'
Tip: An address that cannot be verified does not necessarily point towards malicious behavior. A failed validation may happen if checking an address on an unsupported path, or if your address belongs to an unusually high index. If your wallet platform displays your address index, make sure Jade has a chance to check it before exiting.
Verify a Receive Address
1.
During an active Jade session, select Scan QR and point Jade's camera at a QR code of a bitcoin address (generated by your companion app) that you would like to verify.
2.
Confirm that the address on Jade matches the address on your companion app and that it is the one you'd like to verify. Jade will then begin checking each address of your wallet to see if it finds a match. If you know the address belongs to an index greater than 499, you may select the Skip button. This will automatically jump to the next interval of 500 addresses.
