If you experience issues when trying to update Jade's firmware, try the following troubleshooting steps. If you are attempting to upgrade using the WebUpgrader, make sure you have installed the required driver beforehand if necessary.
Note: We highly recommend updating to the latest version of your device's operating system to resolve any issues and ensure maximum security.
- Visit the USB or Bluetooth troubleshooting guides and attempt the relevant fixes depending on your issue.
- If you can connect your Jade via USB, unlock your Jade with PIN, and try the following navigation:
Options → Device → Settings → Bluetooth → Status:Disabled.
Remember to unlock your Jade and re-enable Bluetooth if you use your Jade with mobile devices.
- Close all other applications on your computer that may be trying to communicate with Jade. For example, make sure the Blockstream app is closed if you are using the Upgrade Web Portal.
- Turn off auto-lock in your companion device's system settings to prevent your device from going to sleep during the update process.
- Attempt an update on a different device, communication method, or upgrade option. For example, if you are having trouble with a USB update, try using Bluetooth on the app (and vice versa).
- Try updating to a less recent version first by selecting Show All on the Web Upgrade Portal, then attempt an update to the latest version. For example, if you are on firmware 0.1.34, update to 0.1.45 and afterwards the most recent release if successful.
- Perform a factory reset on your Jade and try again. Make sure you have backed up your recovery phrase before doing this.
