At Blockstream, we believe Bitcoin, through its proof-of-work (PoW) algorithm, can accelerate renewable energy adoption.
Blockstream Energy uses bitcoin mining to deliver scalable energy demand generation and supports innovative projects to maximize energy production potential. This is done by providing scalable base load demand directly from the Bitcoin network.
Blockstream MMUs
Blockstream Modular Mining Units (MMUs) are self-contained and remotely operated bitcoin mining facilities available for lease and deployment to energy production sites. For energy producers, MMUs offer dynamically adjustable energy demand, ensuring all energy capacity is consistently utilized.
Blockstream Satellite
The Blockstream Satellite network in space ensures 24/7 connection to the Bitcoin blockchain globally and for free, allowing everyone in the world to use Bitcoin regardless of the quality of their local internet.
Solar-Powered Bitcoin Mining Project
In April 2022, Blockstream announced construction to build an open-source, solar-powered bitcoin mining facility at one of the Blockstream Mining sites in the US. This joint project with Block, Inc., will use solar and storage technology from Tesla. A publicly accessible dashboard of the solar mining facility will show real-time metrics of performance, and the economics will be used as a case study of a renewable energy mine. More to follow.
