Self-custody refers to owning the private keys that control the movement of your Blockstream Mining Note. This allows you to have true ownership over your BMN, along with the ability to send or trade your tokens at any time.
Set up a Liquid wallet
You will need to create a Liquid wallet with an AMP account in order to self-custody the Blockstream Mining Note. Currently, these options include:
- Blockstream Green: A Bitcoin and Liquid wallet with a unique multisig security model. Provides additional wallet protection via two-factor authentication (SMS, email, Authenticator/TOTP).
- Blockstream Jade with Green: A hardware wallet solution for use with Blockstream Green. Allows for ultimate security by keeping your private keys offline.
- SideSwap: A wallet platform with an integrated P2P swap market for easy and trustless trading of the BMN.
Whitelist your AMP ID
Due to its status as a security and varying regulations across the globe, the BMN is classified as a Transfer-Restricted Asset. This type of AMP asset can only be sent to users who have first registered their Liquid wallet's AMP ID on the platform they used to purchase the BMN. Your AMP ID can be found on the main page of your Liquid wallet, so make sure this has been shared with the relevant platform where you purchased the BMN.
Receive BMN to your Liquid wallet
1.
Log in to your Liquid wallet with your previously whitelisted AMP ID, then select Receive.
2.
Copy the address that is generated, then provide this to the platform that is currently holding your BMN to request a withdrawal.
Tip: Liquid addresses can be used to receive every type of Liquid asset, so no need to generate one specific to the BMN.
3.
After the platform processes your request, return to the home page of your Liquid wallet where you have now taken self-custody of your BMN.
