QR Scan allows you to use Blockstream Jade without connecting via USB or Bluetooth, and instead communicate with a companion app via QR codes. For a fully air-gapped workflow, users will need to access a QR Mode session using SeedQR. However, there may be situations in which it will be useful to use QR Scan by unlocking Jade using a traditional USB or Bluetooth PIN unlock as well. SeedQR A SeedQR is simply a form of your recovery phrase in a QR code format, instead of a list of 12 or 24 words. SeedQRs can be created by transcribing your recovery phrase QR onto a paper or metal template from your Blockstream Jade. In order to access QR Scan with this method, select Recovery Phrase Login, scan your SeedQR with Jade and choose to interact via QR. Jade will then be unlocked and ready for use in a fully air-gapped manner. PIN Unlock Blockstream Jade requires communication with a server in order to be unlocked via PIN, which helps protect the secrets on your device. Currently, this requires Jade to be connected via USB or Bluetooth so that the companion app can establish communication between Jade and the PIN server. This means your Jade session will not be fully air-gapped, but it will allow you to use several additional wallet platforms due to the increased compatibility that comes with QR support. This may be useful if you do not currently have your SeedQR with you, but would still like to spend from a BlueWallet multisig vault - for example.
